Introduction
In today's most complex and complicated lives, we are all bombarded with many messages, slogans, ideas, opinions and thoughts that are sometimes inserted and routed into our brains without our wanting it- a sort of subliminal information that is being passed to the brain, affecting our behavior, actions and emotions against our will. These often encourage us to buy things we may not need, do things we probably should do, and so on and so forth.
One of the most detrimental effects of the mass media and the global world of today is that we are getting so many messages about how we should look- in terms of makeup, clothes (which for some people, have to be well-known brands and designer clothes), body shape (muscles for men, flat stomach and a thin waistline for women, among other things).
On the one hand, we are encouraged to buy all sorts of fattening and unhealthy foods that are instant and available for purchase, not requiring us to do any labor in preparing them. These foods often contain ingredients which we would never dream of supplying the body and obviously not to our children- but of course, no one tells us that.
And on the other hand, there are these ever-increasing voices telling us that we should look beautiful, thin (skinny, not just thin), healthy, etc. you always see beautiful people in commercials that don't fit anyone's real figure (or, to the vast majority of the population), but there is more and more pressure that we should attempt to look like that- in any means possible, starting from dieting to weight-loss pills, special foods for us and who knows what else.
